Tearfund Canada

COVID-19 Prevention Training (Liberia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan)

Gift Year: 2020

  • Working with and through the local church, wash buckets and soap are being distributed into rural areas of Liberia, Sierra Leone and South Sudan.  Hand washing stations are also being set up in the community in places such as churches and mosques. In some cases, Tearfund Canada's local partners are the first NGOs to reach into these rural areas with these supplies and training.

  • Many of Tearfund Canada's partners have created, printed and distributed informational posters to increase public awareness about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Graphics and text explain concepts of proper hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow, safe disposal of tissues, physical distancing and self-isolation in case of symptoms.

Pictured here: Educational posters created by the Evangelical Fellowship of Sierra Leone and the Association of Evangelicals of Liberia, in partnership with Tearfund Canada.

  • Tearfund Canada's partners are conducting village training to teach community members proper hand washing technique, proper set-up and use of hand washing stations and other COVID-19 preventative measures. Local pastors also receive training on prevention and pastoral care in the midst of pandemic.
